Maliheh Moradi is a distinguished and emerging voice in Persian classical music, trained by three of the tradition’s most revered vocal masters: Mohammad-Reza Shajarian, Fatemeh Vaezi (Parisa), and Ali Asghar Shahzeidi. Born into a musical family in 1984, she began playing tonbak at the age of seven and received her earliest vocal training from her father. She later continued her studies at the Tehran Conservatory of Music, where she also trained on the setar.
Alongside her conservatory education, Maliheh earned a Bachelor’s degree in Persian Literature. She further strengthened her artistic foundation under the guidance of master musicians such as Hossein Alizadeh, Siamak Jahangiri, Mozafar Shafiei, Hasan Pazouki, Mohammad Firouzi, Mohammad-Reza Ebrahimi, Masoud Shoari, and Ardashir Kamkar. In 2024, she expanded her artistic horizons through cross-cultural collaboration by joining the Silkroad Global Musician’s Workshop in Boston.
Maliheh’s artistic presence spans opera, film music, chamber performance, and international festivals. Her credits include the Mowlavi Opera (with Homayoun Shajarian), Shadow (with Siamak Jahangiri), and Atash-e Sabz, with a film score composed by Mohammad-Reza Darvishi. She has performed at festivals in Australia, Spain, Germany, and Poland, and has presented works by composers including Majid Derakhshani, Saeed Farajpouri, Kambiz Roshanravan, Sohrab Pournazeri, Ehsan Matoori, and Siamak Jahangiri. Her collaborations also include performances with the Iranshahr String Orchestra.
Teaching is a vital part of Maliheh’s artistic life. She has served as a guest instructor at Labyrinth Ontario and has taught workshops in various institutions, including Stanford University, sharing her deep knowledge of Persian vocal technique and musical interpretation with students around the world.
Now based in the United States, Maliheh has entered a new chapter of her artistic journey. She is a featured vocalist in the Voices Unveiled project, and her latest album, Our Sorrow, composed by Ehsan Matoori, was released in April 2024 by ARC Nexus World.
